Crumbs from the Table of Joy - Workshop Performance
Godfrey, still grieving from the death of his wife, moves his family from Pensacola, Florida, to Brooklyn, New York in a quiet but mad search for solace and a better life. His two daughters, Ernestine and Ermina, must make a life from the decisions that their father has made for them, all while navigating the realities of race and poverty in 1950s America.
Theatre for Transformation is holding a workshop fundraiser performance of Lynn Nottage's '95 play which explores that era through the lens of the Crump family. Our workshop performance will focus on the development of Nottage's compelling characters.
"The 1950s was such a moment in American history in which I felt so much change...everything I had seen was in black and white. And I wanted to make it colorful. So I started writing Crumbs from the Table of Joy to try to understand that era." - Nottage
There is one performance date with two workshop performances: @2pm and @7pm at Franklin & Marshall's Green Room Theatre. The first act of the play will be performed, followed by a discussion session on race, history, and Black family life, set to run about 45 minutes! Tickets are $12, $5 for students.
