An Evening with Tobias Wolff
TOBIAS WOLFF, winner of the PEN/Faulkner and PEN/O'Henry Short Story Awards, memoirist and fiction author will appear at a fundraising event for Family Promise of Skagit Valley. The evening presentation will be open to the public on Thursday, November 13, 2014 starting at 7:00 pm in the Sedro-Woolley High School Auditorium. Mr. Wolff will discuss his book This Boy's Life which concerns his adolescence in Seattle and in Newhalem, Washington. This Boy's Life was made into a successful film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barkin. He will also talk about a time in his life when he was homeless and discuss his other books, after which he will field questions from the audience. Mr. Wolff currently teaches English and creative writing at Stanford University.
Family Promise of Skagit Valley is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless children and their families. Family Promise helps give families the resources they need for self-sufficiency while providing temporary food and shelter. Proceeds from this event will serve some of the estimated 1,000 children in Skagit Valley who are homeless.
