How can we create walkable, human scaled places to support human activity and interaction, diverse and sustainable communities, the local economy and innovation? 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM Keynote: "The Inclusive Community: Older, Smaller, Better" Michael Powe, Preservation Green Lab and primary author of the report, for an in-depth discussion of the new research showing that walkable places and older, mixed use neighborhoods support age diversity, entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, and resiliency. A panel of experts will share expertise on how to apply the research in practice, and how it supports the basic tenets of New Urbanism to support inclusive communities.
11:15 AM - 11:45 AM PechaKucha: The Third Place: the What, Why, and How PechaKucha is an information overload! Learn about the work of regional practitioners in this fast paced session.
11:45 AM - 12:45 PM Breakout Open Source Salon The Open Source Salon is a grassroots, ad hoc forum that feeds the problem-solving energy for which the CNU is famous, and helps attendees connect over questions of mutual interest.
