A Benefit for Kate
This event is designed for Kate Cox by her family, friends and larger community.
Event Purpose: to raise as much money as possible to give to Kate and Harth as they navigate Kate's treatment for breast cancer and the costs incurred with her recovery.
Event: An evening of music with extraordinary musicians:
Alice DiMicele, legendary, Southern Oregon-based, singer and songwriter
Jenny Conlee (The Decemberists, Black Prairie)
Portland's own, the iconic, Little Sue
and Sue Zalokar
DATE: Sunday, November 23rd
TIME: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. (with networking, hugs and smiles until 6 p.m.)
LOCATION: Tabor Space Commons, 5441 SE Belmont St, Portland, OR 97215
GENERAL ADMISSION and SPIRIT Tickets go on sale 10/31/14 and will be available through the day of the event (11/23/14).
THE ASK: We are asking that people buy tickets to to the show on a sliding scale from $30-$100 (or as much as you would like to contribute. The ticket buyer fee, $.99 + 3.5% per ticket, will be added to the cost of your ticket). This gains you entry to the show.
100% of all profits from this show go directly to Kate's treatment and recovery costs.
There are 100 seats in the venue. You do the math: 100 people x $100 = $10,000.00!
We, of course, don't yet know the full cost of Kate's treatment. But we do know that she is looking at a minimum of $15,000.00 of out-of-pocket expenses. These costs will be incurred while Kate is unable to work during her treatment and recovery - probably over the next year.
It is very important to Kate that everyone realize that whether you can contribute financially or not, that all gestures, even seemingly small gestures such as a note of encouragement, help her stay grounded and positive. Of course, having some financial resource during this time will be a source of relief in many, many ways.
WHAT IF YOU CAN"T BE THERE? We have an option for folks who live elsewhere, don't have $30 minimum for the physical show, have other commitments, or do not get a ticket to the physical show (there are only 100 seats).
You can purchase a SPIRIT Ticket, saying, "I'll be with you in spirit." This is available to you, sliding scale, starting at $5. You may purchase a SPIRIT Ticket for any amount you would like. The ticket buyer fee, $.99 + 3.5% per ticket, will be added to the cost of your "ticket".
