"ITALIAN OPERA & WHAT BROADWAY DID TO IT" is a concert offering music from beloved Italian Operas such as "La Boheme", "La Traviata", and popular arias including "Largo" and "Porgi Amor" followed by Broadway's interpretation of Opera's Drama! Drama! Drama! with selections from "Follies", "Showboat", "Aida", "Miss Saigon" and more.
The singers lending their voices to this plentiful program are Kristyn Taylor, most recently seen on television singing "Let There Be Peace On Earth" at Governor Baker's inauguration at the State House, Laura Hansen, who was introduced to Melrose and a full house at First Baptist Church of Melrose's Christmas Eve musical service, and Frank Walker, a rich, resounding baritone who was featured in Opera Showcase's concert, "Love To Sing!" at First Baptist Church of Melrose. Barbara Morash, choir director for First Baptist church of Melrose, is "excited to have singers of such great caliber coming to the community." "This is a great opportunity for lovers of opera and Broadway to hear some of their 'favorites' sung by skilled talent with beautiful voices!"
Funds raised by this concert will be used to help bolster the musical component of First Baptist Church of Melrose's Sunday services.
