Music FUNdamentals for Ages 4*-6
8-week Fall Series
Sundays, October 19-Dec. 14 (No rehearsal Nov. 30)

The course is designed for 4- to 6-year-olds to enjoy singing, moving, playing and creating together in a small, mixed-age peer group setting.  *Note: For 4-year-olds who have not attended previous Musicollaborative courses please call 504-942-7606 for an orientation conversation.

All sessions integrate vocal music, hand percussion and mallet percussion, movement and an intro to music literacy.  In addition to group music making facilitated by a certified music educator, time is allowed for instrumental exploration and music theory game play. Diverse repertoire will be selected from world music as well as the Crescent City soundtrack.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Kaya Martínez is a musician~educator dedicated to nurturing creativity and building community through the arts.  After more than 14 years of service in the classroom, Ms. Martínez founded Musicollaborative Exploriential Music Learning for All Ages in 2013 to make high quality culturally relevant music education accessible to New Orleans' children and families.  Ms. Martínez enjoys holding space for learners of all ages to grow in their understanding in, of and about music and the other arts through a hands-heart-head facilitation style that incorporates exploration, imitation, improvisation and creation.  In addition to her masters degree in music education and certification in Orff Schulwerk, Ms. Martínez draws upon a diverse background in both instrumental and vocal music, visual arts and dance to design engaging learning opportunities that dissolve boundaries, stimulate the imagination, and foster collaboration.
