Ring of Steel presents: Mark Bedell, 4 Workshop Series
The Ring of Steel Action Theatre is excited to be bringing award-winning stunt coordinator and fight director Mark Bedell to Ann Arbor for a series of stage combat and stunt workshops.

2:00-4:30 Fighting for Film
Participants who attend all four workshops will have the opportunity to film their own stunt demo reel in front of a green screen at 7pm on Sunday.
Tickets available at the door for $40 per workshop.
Indie Flying- Hi-tech stage flight can render incredible effects when you're in a well-equipped studio in LA with access to counter-weighted, computer-controlled, multi-axis rigs, and where you can take advantage of dozens of assistants. But flying f/x need not be limited to big-budget productions. Projects of more modest means can create a wide variety of effects by utilizing relatively simple techniques and far fewer resources. Learn how to prepare for these situations and tackle them with safety and confidence.
Firearms: Protocols and Handling- When it comes to firearms, it is easy to make mistakes, both simple and subtle, that can place both cast and crew at risk of injury or worse. In this workshop, you'll learn not only how to avoid these errors, but also the safety protocols and handling procedures that will keep your movie set and stage production safe.
Broadsword: In-Distance- Standard SAFD protocols dictate that sword fights must be performed "out-of-distance." However, there are any number of instances when fights for film or on very small stages must be executed "in-distance" and yet remain safe. This class will cover protocols and techniques to allow combatants to engage safely while "in-distance."
Fighting for Film- From Jackie Chan & Jet Li to each of the Expendables, every actor should know how to throw and take a punch! Learn the basics of fighting for film, including how to sell punches, kicks, head butts, take downs, flips, neck breaks, chokes, and more. Participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate the concepts they've learned in front of a green screen.
