Dyeing Fiber with Mushrooms Workshop - Presented by Marika Banyacski
This is a quick beginner's class on the art of dyeing fiber with mushrooms. It will be presented by Marika Banyacski, Eugene Textile Artist, at the Yachats Village Mushroom Fest.
Learn how to prepare fibers in the most environmentally responsible way for mushroom dyes, how to brew up a dye pot, some common mushrooms that give good dye results, and some resources for more in depth mushroom dyeing information. Simple Shibori dye techniques will also be shown.
Each participant will have a chance to mushroom dye a chiffon silk scarf. As well, each participant will get a yarn sample from the day's dye pots to start their own color sample card. Participants should wear clothes that could potentially get stained. This class is limited to 18 people.
A minimum of 10 pre-registered students is required for this workshop to run.
After the class, visit Marika's booth with mushroom and plant dyed scarves, yarns and handmade items - Marika will be here all day Saturday in the Yachats Commons main entry hall.
