LAUGH RIOT- Fundraising Comedy Show for YEPP!
Join us at R Public House restaurant and bar in Roger's Park for a night of laughs, hosted by Chicagoan Gwen La Roka. This show will be raising funds to keep supporting the radical work that Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP) is doing in the city.  YEPP's mission is to seek a safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer youth experiencing homelessness to explore their history, investigate new ways to address their struggles and celebrate their strengths throughout the process of developing a theatrical performance piece.  

The funding raised will be covering different operational expenses such as food, a monthly transportation card, space rental, stipend for the youth, among many others.    

The evening will feature five comedians, a raffle, and much more! You can bring your after Halloween Costume and laughed it out.

Day: Saturday, November 1st
Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Gwen La Roka (Host)- Since first taking the comedy scene by storm in 2009, Gwen La Roka is proving to be one of Chicago's fastest up and coming comediennes. Her recent appearance on Chicago's ABC Channel 7's Emmy-Award winning show "Ñ Beat" is just one of the growing list of high profile coverage that is a testament to her laughter stimulating talent. In 2010, Gwen claimed 1st place in Mikey O's Annual "Last Loco Standing" comedy competition, making her the first female to win the title. Gwen also appeared in the TBS Just for Laughs Festival as part of "El Show Latino" in 2011, and on Chicago's ABC Channel 7's show "N Beat" in 2012, She was also featured as a part of The Queer Queens of Qomedy Show alongside widely known Poppy Champlin (Logo TV) Sandra Valls (The Original Latin Divas of Comedy) and Vicky Shaw.  





Scott Duff (Comedian)- Scott is a professional gay based in Chicago.  He is the host/producer of Chigaygo!, Laugh Factory Chicago's night of queer comedy, and has performed at Zanies, Just Dickin' Around, and Laughs in the Lounge.  Scott is an Artistic Associate and founding member of About Face Theatre with whom he helped to create over a dozen original works including Xena Live! Parts 1 and 2, We 3 Lizas, and his one-man show, Alone: A Solo Homo A-Go-Go, which premiered at Chicago's Museum of Modern Art and transferred to iO.  In his more serious moments, he has performed with Steppenwolf, Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare, ATC, and Lookingglass Theatre, and he can be seen in a variety of independent films.  You can listen to Scott every Sunday on OUT CHICAGO, a weekly live talk show for the LGBT community airing from 11am-1pm on WCPT, Chicago's Progressive Talk AM & FM. www.chicagosprogressivetalk.com








Jaime de Leon (Comedian)- is a native Chicagoan who is quickly standing out in the Chicago stand up comedy scene. He performs regularly at "Mikey O" Shows and clubs like The Laugh Factory, and Jokes and Notes. He produces & hosts a monthly stand up comedy showcase in Pilsen, called Pilsen Stand Up!. Last year Jaime opened up for Paul Rodriguez and the Latin Kings of Comedy at the Horseshoe Casino.











Soli Santos began her comedy career as a student and graduate of The Second City, Improv Olympic, The Feminine Comique, and Act One Studios. She has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some talented and respected comedians including, Joey Villagomez (HBO Latino), Cameron Esposito(Craig Ferguson Show), Patti Vasquez (TBS), Alex Ortiz (BET), Carmen Lynch (Late Night w/ Dave Letterman), Luke Torres (In Living Color, Que Locos) and Ana Belaval (WGN News). Soli's unique perspective on being a single Latina in the big city, relationships, exercising, and not fitting into the stereotypical Latina role, has charmed audiences all over. From Chicago, Mona has lived all over the world including Europe, Middle East and Africa; and she finds one thing to be true: "Funny is everywhereso let's use it for good people!" Mona has studied improv and sketch comedy writing at Chicago's Second City. She has performed numerous on national tours, comedy clubs, universities and many random stages throughout the US and Canada. In addition to performing Mona voluntarily teaches comedy workshop for inner-city youth at the Finkl Academy in the heart of Chicago's South Side. There she works with 7th and 8th grade students who are passionate about writing and performing stand up comedy and improvisation.
















Marla Depew is a graduate of the Second City Training Center's writing program and has studied at iO and The Annoyance in Chicago. She's performed standup throughout Chicago and the Midwest at venues such as Zanies, Laugh Factory, Second City's Donny's Skybox and Second City's deMaat Theatre as well as at Chicago Women's Funny Festival and Gilda's Laughfest in Grand Rapids, MI. She is the producer of Laughs In The Lounge, a monthly showcase in Rogers Park, and a co-producer of Just Dickin' Around, a women's comedy collective that produces weekly queer-friendly shows at Hydrate in Boystown.
