America The Reboot: Sketch Comedy for "We" the People
Because most of us skip voting on weird even years like this one, the government that does get elected manages to disappoint and frustrate all but the political nerds and zealots who go out and vote every time an election pops up.
This crazy paradox is explored - and exploited - by the company that celebrates every freakin' election that comes along: Democracy Burlesque - Chicago's only sketch comedy company that focuses exclusively on political satire.
AMERICA: THE REBOOT features Democracy Burlesque's Actors of Evil performing sketches written by its crack Writers of Wrongs, and brings to each evening an array of some of Chicago's best standup comedians, musicians, and Special Guest Acts, and contributions from YOU, the audience, that can help YOU win some special prizes!
AMERICA: THE REBOOT opens on Tuesday, October 7, and performs every Tuesday in October, at Mary's Attic, 5400 North Clark. Doors open at 7 pm with the show starting at 7:30.
Tickets are $15, $12 for students and seniors. Each show features a worthy Cause Celebre a non-profit and/or charitable organization looking to raise awareness for their work as well as a little cash.
AND, on Election Night, November 4 (just a friendly reminder), Democracy Burlesque will perform an ELECTION NIGHT SPECTACULAR, which will feature a full show, election results as they come in, and food, all for the special price of $25!
Proceeds for the Election Night Spectacular will benefit the Illinois Choice Action Team.
