Strings Attached Productions presents legendary singer/songwriter Patty Larkin for a memorable, intimate evening benefiting Urban Ministries of Durham, Friday, November 14, at 7 PM, in the Parish Hall at St. Philip's Episcopal Church.
Patty Larkin's name and work are revered by fans from across the musical spectrum. Her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics redefines musical boundaries. Acoustic Guitar hails her "soundscape experiments" while Rolling Stone praises her "evocative and sonic shading."
Patty grew up in a musical and artistic family in Milwaukee, descended from a long line of Irish American singers and taletellers. Patty began classical piano studies at age 7, immersed herself in the pop and folk of the '60s and taught herself the guitar and experimented with songwriting in high school. She sang throughout high school and college in coffeehouses in Oregon and San Francisco. After graduating from the University of Oregon, Patty moved to Boston and devoted herself to music, busking on the streets of Cambridge and studying jazz guitar at Berklee College of Music and with Boston area jazz guitarists.
Touring now in support of her lucky 13th album, Still Green, Patty shares a kaleidoscope of sun and sea-infused songs of relief, respite and solace created during times of loss and resolution. Make plans to join this fascinating and incredibly talented artist for this UMD benefit concert.
