Peter J Hochstedler & Sade Murphy at the Birdsell Mansion
DREAM MACHINE AND NECROBISECT CELEBRATE TOGETHER

Join two local transgressive artists for an evening of music and poetry in an historic South Bend mansion.

Sade Murphy's book Dream Machine will be published by coimpress in November, 2014. She will read excerpts from her book in this pre-publication celebration of its nascence in book form. Dream Machine is a turbulent mire of memory and discomfited limbs all jammed together, undeadly.

Peter J Hochstedler will launch their record Necrobisect in vinyl LP and digital formats on October 18 at the show. Peter will be joined by Bethy Williams on bass and Matthew Caponigro on keys to present selections from this reflective, wry, and overwrought songwriter project about death, separation, and the American Wet Dream.

PLEASE NOTE:

- Doors open at 7 PM and the show begins at 8:15 sharp.
- Though this is a listening show, it is also a party. Come ready to engage with the performances and enjoy yourself.
- The space will be pre-heated but it's huge and old. Bring a scarf and woolies.
- Attendees are invited to BYOB. Please note that no food or beverage will be available for purchase at the venue.
- Though all ages are welcome, discretion is advised. Some of the poetic and lyrical content will be of a violent, vulgar, and sexually graphic nature.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS/PERFORMERS:

SADE MURPHY was born and raised in Houston, TX. She doesn't have an accent. She attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a Bachelor's in Studio Art. Her studio practice is focused in book arts, printmaking, silk painting and installation art. In 2011 she received a fellowship from the Pavlis Foundation to complete a month long residency at the Vermont Studio Center. She has published one chapbook of poetry, Abandon Childhood, which most likely cannot be found anywhere. Her poetry has been published in Action Yes, joINT, Revolver, and LIT. Dream Machine is her first full length manuscript of poetry and she plans to apply to MFA programs this fall. She currently lives and works in South Bend, IN as a silk painter with Silk Creations, a collective of women artists, and serves as the Artist in Residence at Dismas House, a community focused on the re-entry of the formerly incarcerated.

PETER J HOCHSTEDLER writes and performs songs of resistance and songs of the road in the tradition of the American Folk Singer. Peter's lyrical and melodic work meanders from snarky, disjointed political reams to intimate narrative fragments brimming with imaginative characters. Necrobisect includes violent murder-fantasies towards peter's own inner capitalist, visions of politicians performing lewd sex acts on television, a tragic love song addressed to a child-killing drone pilot, and much much more!

"Undoubtedly one of the best songwriters of his time . . . Peter deliciously mixes the ugly with the beautiful . . . and creates a world wrought with religious implications, meditations on an all-encompassing God that no one can trust, and a world where people are knocked around and dragged out. It's not the happiest thing, but, and, yes, I dare compare them: Dylan had the same knack." - Angelica Music
