8th Annual Rumi by Candlelight Chapel Hill
Be foolishly in love, because love is all there is. -- Rumi
Friends Outside of Time returns to the Triangle with their popular holiday offering, Rumi by Candlelight. They will perform at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 11, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church located at 300 E. Rosemary St in Chapel Hill.
Although the poetry of Rumi originated in 13th century Persia and is revered in many Middle Eastern countries, it is the poetry of our time here in the US. Although it originated over seven centuries ago on the other side of the world its message speaks to us today. It is an effective force for positive change.
Come experience the ecstatic poetry of this ancient, Sufi mystic brought to life with the evocative readings of Adrian Vyner-Brooks and the lush, original music of Betsy Bevan (piano), Will Ridenour on Kora (African Harp) and Meredith Holladay (vocals). Special guest Daniel Chambo accompanies on Bansuri (Indian flute).
This evening dedicated to "the eternal message of love that resonates with people of all beliefs" has proven to be a life-changing and heart awakening event for many who have experienced it. Be prepared to be transformed!
"These poems are not about Rumi, nor his time, nor his place," says Vyner-Brooks. "They are love poems. They are about you, about the love cradled in your soul."
"You know Adrian, you are changing people's lives and you don't even know it!" G.H. Greensboro
