Short Story Theatre Storytelling Night
Short Story Theatre presents an evening of four enlightening, entertaining, heartfelt, and scary stories on Monday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m., in the theatre at Books on Vernon, 664 Vernon Ave., in Glencoe, IL. Short Story Theatre's troupe is comprised of local writers and actors, who tell about their true-life experiences.
Novelist Ron Levitsky of Lake Forest will share his adventures in the Dominican Republic during a hurricane in his story "Nesting Dolls."
Donna Lubow of Riverwoods, a co-founder of Short Story Theatre, relates a tale of woe and deception in "I Hate My Hair."
Rick Leslie, also a co-founder of Short Story Theatre, reveals family history in his story "Shhhh!"
Mary Lou Gilliam, a Deerfield resident, recalls how she dealt with dirty old men when she was a naive, young waitress at a HOJO's. Her story: "A Friendly Disaster."
Musician Rich Logan accompanies the storytellers with original music, highlighting the mood in each story, like a soundtrack in a film.
Each story will be introduced with excerpts from the book "In a Chicago Minute" by Mike Lubow.
Tickets are $18 and are available on the theatre's website: www.shortstorytheatre.com.
The theatre encourages buying a ticket early, as the show often sells out.
