OUR INSTRUCTOR: Fatima Zohra Lahlou
Born and raised in Fez, Morocco, Ms. Lahlou grew up in the musical traditions of Morocco. At the age of 15 she began her musical training under Haj Mohammed Bennis, a leading singer of religious music in Morocco. During this time, she began training at the Fez Conservatory of Music. She excelled as a vocalist in the Arab Andalusia Musical tradition; she had performed at over 200 festivals and in 2008 was commissioned to perform at a celebration of the 1200-year anniversary of the city Fez, launching her international career. She has since performed as the soloist for the Ensemble Rhoum Al bakkali in France, Switzerland, Spain, Indonesia, and in the UAE. She recently immigrated to the US to continue to use her musical talents for cultural ambassadorship.
