On October 24th and 25th 2014, INKED Dance will proudly present their 3rd full length evening dance concert, "The LA Symphony and other works." The performance will take place at 8pm on Friday and Saturday October 24th and 25th at the Martha B Knoebel Dance Theater located on campus at California State University at Long Beach. Tickets are $20 General Admission and $15 for students and seniors.
Artistic director Brian Moe presents an explosive dance piece to vivid life with his 9 company dancers in his newest work, The LA Symphony. Set to an original 4 movement symphony composed by Moe himself and inspired by the sights and sounds of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas, this seminal work explores human connection, trust, love, and loss with dynamic and athletic movement and contemporary partnering. The music intertwines beautifully with the orchestral score to take the viewer on a journey through the plights of the people of LA, primarily the vagrants and how we look view them as a society.
The second presents a series of other works choreographed by Brian Moe, starting with "Larks," set to Haydn's string quartet in D Major, op 64. The quarter shares the name of "Lark," and it is this name that Moe found his inspiration for movement. He uses his cast of 5 dancers to explore the majesty and tenderness of these flying beasts.
There will be one 15 minute intermission between the acts of the concert.
