Brooklyn Quartet - Rock WILK
ALL SHOWS CANCELLED - Postponement until further notice
Brooklyn Quartet the new solo performance by Rock WILK is topical and in-your-face. Brooklyn Quartet explores prejudice, institutional racism, white privilege and urban gentrification. It is theater that is relevant, cutting-edge, progressive and coming to Jersey City. This thought provoking and unforgettable play is presented by Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC), running consecutive Thursday evenings through October at Merseles Studios, 339-345 Newark Avenue. Broolyn Quartet may depict the struggles of our times, but the play is mainly about hope. "Brooklyn Quartet is about the resilience of the human spirit," said Rock Wilk. "That no matter what we do to one another, we somehow find it in ourselves to forgive and to remain hopeful, that this is the most meaningful, powerful and important part of us. This is what true love is, and that true love is the only thing that can save us. "Rock WILK is an important new voice in American theater and JCTC is proud to present his dynamic and controversial new play," said Olga Levina, Artistic Director. "Brooklyn Quartet reminds us that love enables us to survive our struggles. There is much more in our core humanity to unite us than divide us." Spanning three decades, Brooklyn Quartet follows the life journey of three friends, from different cultures yet all struggling to survive in America's all too often heart breaking and violent melting pot. The fourth member of this quartet is Queen an actual angel who narrates the triumphs and tragedies as the trio navigates life and struggles to preserve their friendship against dire odds.
