Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 6th year, this monthly (every 3rd Thursday) comedy show features an eclectic mix of comedians. A Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio production. MC'ed by Kung Pao's Lisa Geduldig.
This month's comedians: Maureen Langan, Dan St Paul, Matt Gubser, Anthony Durante, and Lisa Geduldig.
Maureen Langan is a New York City-based stand up comic who grew up with an Irish immigrant mother, garbage man father, and five siblings in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, where there is no lake. She's a regular at Carolines on Broadway in New York City, one of the country's premiere comedy clubs, and performs all over the US, Canada, and the UK. Maureen was a finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition, the first woman since Ellen DeGeneres to place in the top three. She is the recipient of the prestigious MAC (Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets) Award for Best Female Comic. She has appeared on The Joy Behar Show, Comics Unleashed, and HBO. She is a regular contributor to HLN, FOX News, and MSNBC. She is an award-winning broadcast journalist who has hosted her own national TV and radio shows. Dan St. Paul, after a 7-year stint headlining SF clubs in the comedy duo Murphy-St. Paul, launched out on his own with a solo act that landed him in the finals of The SF Comedy Competition. Having grown up in San Francisco's Mission District, Dan moved to LA and appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. He appeared in the movie "Flubber" with Robin Williams and signed a recording deal with MCA records. His CD, "Natural and Good for You" contains one the most requested comedy pieces on radio, "The First Baseball Game." He also is the star of his own one-man play, "Outer Mission, Middle Class - The Comic Diary of an Immigrant's Son." Corporate clients include Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Nations Bank, Philips Magnavox, Chevron, Blue Cross, and many, many more. Matt Gubser irreverently slices through social conventions of all shapes and sizes with his razor-sharp wit and recounts the absurdity of his experiences parenting, dating and aging. Matt is a staple in the Bay Area comedy scene and performs across the country. He has appeared in the Sacramento Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, and Santa Cruz Fringe Fest, and is a contributor to Savage Henry Magazine. Matt is a Northern California native and currently resides in Oakland. He enjoys sculpting, buying too many books that he never gets around to reading, and basketball. Anthony Durante is an Italian-American fitness training comedian and San Francisco native via New York. He has opened for MarinComedyshow for 3 years for headliners Will Durst, Johnny Steele and Robin Williams. He's a film comedy writer and has had a half a dozen children's plays produced in San Francisco.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 22nd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
