Through The Roots, The Supervillains, and Sun Dried Vibes @ IPA
THROUGH THE ROOTS
A high-energy San Diego, California-based group known for its easy-listening music with Cali-Reggae vibes and positive messages, sailed into 2014 with a fan-inspired new full-length album, a three-show stop with Rebelution, and the 2014 Winter West Coast Tour along with Tribal Seeds to start the New Year off with a bang.The fast start to 2014 is only the beginning of what THROUGH THE ROOTS has in store for its thousands of loyal fans from across the United States and in Canada. The fast-rising band out of San Diego also has at least one nationwide tour and possibly two in the works as well as concentrating on bringing more new music to the popular genre. THROUGH THE ROOTS highlighted a productive 2013 with its nine-song album, "Take You There," that debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes reggae top 20 chart in late July and received excellent reviews. TTR carried over that musical momentum into successful nationwide tours with lead groups Rebelution and Iration. TTR also played in the prestigious Cali Roots Festival and traveled to Guam for its first-ever trip overseas to spread its positive vibes.
THE SUPERVILLAINS
These Florida-bred swamp rockers have been bending genres, partying hard, touring the world, and leaving tales of joy and destruction in their wake. Founded by high-school buddies and co-lead vocalists Dominic Maresco (drums) and Scott "Skart" Suldo (guitars), the Supervillains' patented harmonies and hooks have permeated through many scenes while managing to stay true to their collective roots. Huge, ground-moving bass lines provided by Daniel Grundorf with multi-instrumental solos and melodies from Tom "T-Rex" Moulton compliment the combo's penchant for formulating unique arrangements, drawing from a wide range of influences. Southern vocal harmonies accompany undeniable reggae beats, tasty ska rhythms, and all-out punk rock insanity from a band that truly resembles the cultural melting pot of their home state.
SUN DRIED VIBES
Sun-Dried Vibes is bringing a fresh, new twist to the reggae/rock genre with their infectious, blue-eyed sound combined with a postive and organic lyrical style. Their sound is described as unique, tight & original. The ensemble joined forces in July of 2010 and have been taking the Southeast by storm with their debut album, "Give Thanks." Recently named South Carolina's 2012 Rock Band of the Year by the SC Music Awards & Charlotte's Best Local Band 2012 by the Readers of Creative Loafing, these rude boys have brought a new vibe to the Southeast, opening for major acts of all genres including The Dirty Heads, 311, Slightly Stoopid, Ballyhoo, The Movement, AWOL Nation, Neon Trees, The Nappy Roots, 3 Legged Fox and many more. An award winning band with a new sound and killer stage presence, SDV looks to release their 2nd full-length album in January 2013 and establish their first national tour after pounding the Southeast for two years.
