2014-2015 Season Details The Who's TOMMY Music and Lyrics by Pete Townshend Book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff
Performance Dates: October 1 4 and 6, 2014 @ 7:30 pm October 4 & 5, 2014 @ 2:00 pm
The Who's classic '60s rock opera, Tommy, is translated to the stage into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind, theatrical event. After witnessing a terrible incident, young Tommy is traumatized into catatonia and as he grows, he suffers abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. As an adolescent, he's found to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball and when his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, he becomes an international pinball superstar who is worshipped and adored. Peter Townshend's tale of a young boy's journey from pain to triumph is an incredibly electrifying evening of rock and roll theatre!
OTHER DESERT CITIES by Jon Robin Baitz
Performance Dates: November 20 24, 2014 @ 7:30 pm November 22, 2014 @ 2:00 pm
In the riveting new play, Other Desert Cities, Brooke Wyeth returns home to Palm Springs after a six year absence to celebrate Christmas with her parents, brother and aunt. But when she announces her plans to publish a memoir, a pivotal and tragic event in the family's history is brought to light and a surprising twist is revealed. In effect, she draws a line in the sand and dares them all to cross it. Other Desert Cities is a searing comedy with banter that dazzles and decimates, making it one of the most satisfying plays of the decade. Named Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play by the Outer Critics Circle, winner of the Drama League Award for Distinguished Play, and a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
MOON OVER BUFFALO by Ken Ludwig
Performance Dates: February 19, 20, 21 & 23, 2015 @ 7:30 pm February 21 & 22, 2015 @ 2:00 pm
In the madcap comedy tradition of playwright Ken Ludwig, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950's. At the moment, they're playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac (revised, one nostril version) in rep in Buffalo, New York, with 5 actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom. Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter's clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they're actually performing, caused by Charlotte's deaf, old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George's body.
HENRY V by William Shakespeare
Performance Dates: April 15 19, 2015 @ 7:30 pm April 18, 2015 @ 2:00 pm
One of Shakespeare's best-loved history plays, Henry V chronicles the life of young King Hal as he gives up his days of leisure spent with drinking companion, Jack Falstaff, and is thrust into the monarchy and a kingdom torn by civil strife. To unite his countryman, England's new monarch decides to enforce his claim to the throne of France. Shakespeare examines the nature of war, leadership and honor as he transports us from the seedy taverns of Eastcheap to the muddy fields of Agincourt where an outnumbered band of brothers faces the ultimate test and a young leader becomes a great king.
