Written in the 1950s, IN THE SUMMER HOUSE explores ideas and issuesabout the paths open to women and the relationship between mothers and daughtersthat are as immediate and enthralling today as they were 60 years ago. Written just before the modern feminist revolution opens new vistas for women, the play tells the story of the mysterious and powerful relationship between mothers and their daughters.
