El Cuarteto Argentino Concert
From Buenos Aires en route to Djangofest Northwest, Gonzalo's Argentinian Quartet features two lead guitars, an upright bass and a flamenco cajon. The music presents some of the new jazz/rock movement that's taking place in Buenos Aires at the moment, with some of Argentina's folk music as well.
The music is heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, and the traditional jazz and folk music of Bergara's home, Buenos Aires. "Gonzalo Bergara's music exists in a way that very little music does. He has lavished such care on every phrase, built each arrangement with such lapidary precision and pared away anything extraneous. The music becomes sculpture. It has weight, density, gravity. This is serious.and deeply moving."
These guys played Samois-Sur-Seine, in southern France, the greatest festival featuring the "Hot Club"genre in the entire world, and are on their way to North America's premiere DjangoFest NorthWest in Washington which is promoting this as a "not to be missed" event. What a rare treat to have them stop in Redding to play for those select few who are lucky enough to get tickets in time.
Don't miss this show. Advance Tickets for limited seating highly recommended!
