Line, Please
"LINE, PLEASE" Written and Performed by Burke Byrnes and Developed with and Directed by Eric Trules, is an uplifting 1 man tragi-comedy about a life in theater. Byrnes, a long time professional actor in both New York and LA, has long been passed over by his Hollywood agent because he's "too old for the shot". Now in 2014, he's suddenly asked to come back to Off-Off Broadway's "Great White Way" to act in a new play about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the atomic "spies". He's the oldest actor in the cast... by about 30 years... and he soon finds himself under great duress, not being able to remember his lines. In fact, he can barely remember his name. Through a comic series of misadventures, Byrnes struggles with his memory, his pride, and with the fact that, as Bob Dylan says, "It's not dark yet, but it's gettin' there." Heart-warmingly honest, heart-breakingingly funny, LINE, PLEASE, is a 1 man play that looks at the entirety of a life... with humor, pathos, and good ol', well-crafted storytelling. Not just for the "actorly" or the elderly, LINE, PLEASE is for anyone who's had to struggle with challenges, disappointments, and the unexpected curveballs that life pitches us all.
