More about Read to Succeed Buffalo:
Read to Succeed Buffalo, Inc. was founded on the principle that literacy gives people the power to overcome challenges such as family poverty, attending a low-performing school, or living in a poor neighborhood.
But, to become literate in spite of these challenges is an intentional process that must start at birth, providing the background knowledge, exposure to language, both written and spoken, and experience base that all infants and toddlers need to master pre-reading skills. Read to Succeed Buffalo supports this progression of intentional exposure and skill building right through third grade the pivot point when children advance from learning "how" to read to reading to "learn."
Ensuring every child in the City of Buffalo can read and communicate proficiently by the end of third grade is also an effective strategy for ensuring our continued economic renaissance in WNY. But it can only be accomplished if, as a community, we focus our resources in programs like Read to Succeed's data-driven literacy coaching supports.
While the environment of school reform is constantly evolving, RTSB will weather the changes because our literacy interventions are rooted in scientifically based reading and implementation research. RTSB's goal to maximize the conditions for improved literacy development, in young children birth through third grade will be realized because of our commitment to fidelity of implementation and accountability.
