RDC Benefit Play "The Son'll Come Out Tomorrow!" by Christopher Reidy
"The Son'll Come Out Tomorrow" is a comedy about a boy who wants to play Little Orphan Annie in his grade school's production of "Annie". Suzy Jenkins, the fourth grade diva thinks he can do it. But Johnnie's father, Mr. John Smith Sr., simply can't deal with a "song and dance" son. This bone of contention puts a wedge between Mr. Smith and his put-upon wife, Brenda. Brenda supports her son but she's torn when her husband gives her an ultimatum. She seeks the aid of Mrs. Jones, a licensed sex-therapist (and Little Johnnie's drama teacher). Mrs. Jones takes matters into her own hands, while Brenda battles demons of her own. Meanwhile, can the town deal with a boy playing the beloved orphan girl who wins the hearts of all she meets? Will the school Principal put a stop to the play? Will Suzy Jenkins upstage Little Johnnie? Will Little Johnnie prevail? Will the sun come out tomorrow? Bet your bottom dollar it will! "The Son'll Come Out Tomorrow" is structured as a spoof of TV movies of the week. As parody, it's certainly hoped that it will provide plenty of laughs. But also, hopefully, some thoughts will be provoked about the courage it takes for every human to live their life truthfully.
