Musical Performance by Lonnie Holley
Since the late seventies, Lonnie Holley has devoted his life to the practice of improvisational creativity. "What I do is all about my brains and experience." His art manifests in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and sound. Holley's performances are improvised on the spot and morph and evolve with every event, concert, and recording.
Holley uses the materials of our past, present, and future to reveal truth and give meaning to abstract notions of freedom, liberty, and equality. All of Holley's work as a performer and maker resembles those beautiful small moments in everyday life where the engagement between objects and bodies spark and become real. He makes music grounded in the uniqueness of the individual voice and its ability to speak universally. Equally prophetic and realistic, Holley's work calls for each story we tell about ourselves to intertwine and sing in chorus.
We invite you to join us and share in this singular experience.
