Connect with a leader ... over cocktails
CONNECT WITH A LEADER
- a joint venture with ForWARD and the Fellows Committee

An opportunity to meet with leaders in the architectural and related design industries. These intimate conversations are purposefully limited in size to allow for open dialogue regarding experiences, challenges and achievements. These casual mentoring groups are intent on sparking connections and relationships contributing to long term career benefits.

Kicking off this event is AIA Fellow Ned Vaivoda, hosting a cocktail event at the AIA!

A bit about Ned:
I am an architect, planner and design generalist by education.  I have had the great fortune of learning from luminaries such as Edmund Bacon, Ian McHarg, Louis Kahn and treasured my two year apprenticeship in the New York office of Bauhaus Master, Marcel Breuer.  With a Bachelor of Architecture from Case Western Reserve University and Master of Architecture and  Master of City Planning degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, my education and training have served me well over the years, providing a foundation for broad-based thought and a platform for built expression.
For me, design is an attitude, a frame of mind, a way of looking at the world, and a method of ordering decisions more than an activity informed by repetition.  In such a process, design is never trivialized or taken for granted, as lessons learned build a volume of experiences selectively called upon to move ideas and projects to reality.

What I enjoy most is getting to know my clients' business, behaviors, lifestyle and culture, and then collectively finding the best path to complement and express both the legible and the abstract in a meaningful and resonant form.  I love the journey and sharing the experience with clients and users, linking the values of service with the technologies of change.  I feel privileged to learn and participate at this level, and then to be entrusted with a process and a budget to secure client aspirations in the visual and fiscal realms.  I am a lucky!
