Tim Carr and DIA/Arborea/Haunt the House
Beautiful music from California, Maine and Rhode Island. Art songs, psych folk, the story of "Jack Rabbit Jones"......This will be sweet.

About Tim Carr

Tim Carr is a Los Angeles based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His music is inspired by African rhythms, melodies of the French Romantics and 1960's pop.

As member of the rock & roll band The Americans, Tim has played on Letterman and toured nationally, opening for artists such as Ryan Bingham and The Secret Sisters. He also sings and plays drums in Fell Runner, a band that integrates polyrhythms and vocal harmonies. Other credits include: playing drums for HAIM, composing and arranging songs for Taiwanese pop star Yen-J, and producing other songwriters. Tim's song, The Last Day of Fighting, was included on the soundtrack to Watershed, a film produced by Robert Redford, featuring other artists including Beck, Múm, and Thom Yorke.

Growing up in Marin County, surrounded by a family of musicians, Tim took up piano, guitar, and drums before he was eight years old. He continued to study drums and polyrhythms with Peter Magadini and, as a teenager, performed in numerous workshops, including The Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and SF Jazz Combos. Tim went on to receive a BFA from California Institute of the Arts. For three consecutive years, he was featured on their annual Capitol Records CD, recording both his original music and performances with other artists.

About DIA

DÎA is the project of LA based singer and composer Danielle Birrittella. Influenced by wartime ballads, art song, and oldies of the 1950's and 1960's, her songs are written on the ukulele and piano. She sometimes incorporates vocal pedals while composing to hear her voice abstracted.

Born on a Hindu ashram, Danielle was immersed in the singing of ceremonial sanskrit ragas, accompanied by traditional Indian instruments. Early exposure to this sacred music led her to pursue Western Classical singing and eventually train as an opera singer throughout the U.S. and Europe.

A native of New England, and a graduate of New York University (BA) and California Institute of the Arts (MFA), she has lived and worked as a singer and actor in New York, France, and Italy. Danielle's performances have included Disney Hall's REDCAT - Los Angeles, La Musica Lirica - Italy, The Chautauqua Institute - New York, La Main d'Or - Paris, and The Ludwig Foundation - Cuba.

About Arborea

Since 2005, Maine based wife and husband Folk duo, Shanti and Buck Curran have released 5 albums, curated two various artist compilations ('Leaves of Life' and 'We Are All One, In the Sun': a tribute to Robbie Basho), and performed throughout the US, UK, and Europe...including sessions on the BBC, NPR, WNYC, and WXPN. Arborea's 4th album 'Red Planet', released in 2011 made Rolling Stone 'Best Under-the-Radar Albums of 2011'', 'Editors Top Pick' Guitar Player Magazine, and 'Top Vinyl Pick' Mojo Magazine. Arborea's 5th album 'Fortress of the Sun' was released in 2013 on the NYC label ESP-Disk' and made AllMusic's 'Favorite Folk Albums of 2013', Acoustic Guitar Magazine's 'Best Acoustic Albums of 2013', and Echoes 'Best of 2013' Listener Poll.

About Haunt the House

Haunt the House comes from a quiet place. Born in the woods of Charlestown, Rhode Island from the mind of songwriter Will Houlihan, the music began as a whisper. His solo EP, "Rural Introspection Study Group", and performances have garnered attention from artists, musicians, and audiences around southern New England. In the spring of 2012 a story began to develop and it gestated until the fall of 2013 when Will assembled a band to record the debut full-length album. Recorded over five days at the Columbus Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island, Haunt the House's new release "Jack Rabbit Jones" tells the story of a loving couple torn apart by jealousy and madness. With featured performers Allysen Callery, Amato Zinno of Vudu Sister and Bessie Bessin of Pier Jump, and many others, produced by Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky of The Low Anthem, "Jack Rabbit Jones" is but the first statement by one of Rhode Island's most intriguing new folk ensembles.
