Keaton as Film
Aug 08

Hosted by Robert Spector!

Live musical accompaniment!

Friday, Aug 08 at 08:00PM

An evening of beloved Buster Keaton films, hosted by local Keaton enthusiast Robert Spector and featuring live accompaniment for Cops and The Playhouse by Jen Gilleran (percussion) and Christian Pincock (trombone/effects) of GRID.

FEATURING

Cops
(Buster Keaton and Eddie Cline, United States, 1922, 16mm, 20 min)

The Playhouse
(Buster Keaton and Eddie Cline, United States, 1921, 35mm, 20 min)

Sherlock, Jr.
(Buster Keaton, 1924, 35mm, 45 min)
A fast and funny silent comedy so canonical, Pauline Kael deemed it "a piece of native American surrealism." The master comedian plays a poorly projectionist who dreams of becoming a great detective and wooing a neighborhood girl. Chock full of vaudeville flair, elaborate slapstick gags, and a clever film-within-a-film dream sequence, this pristinely edited tale more than stands the test of time.
