"If people could hear this music right now, they'd melt, they wouldn't know what to do, they'd start bouncing off the walls and hyperventilating."
-Kurt Cobain, on Half-Japanese
We can hardly believe it ourselves, but we are honored to announce that New City Galerie will be hosting Jad Fair (of the legendary band Half Japanese, subject of the documentary HALF JAPANESE: THE BAND THAT WOULD BE KING) and Daniel Smith (of art-rock band Danielson) for a two month exhibition of their visual art, kicked off with a limited seating musical performance at the Burlington First Friday Art Walk on Friday, September 5th.
Joyful Noise Recordings is currently hosting Jad Fair as their artist in residence and is releasing a limited edition 4 LP boxed set (featuring Jad collaborating with R Stevie Moore, Norman Blake (of Teenage Fanclub), Danielson, and Strobe Talbot), and just announced this month, OVERJOYED, Half-Japanese's first LP in thirteen years, will be released soon. All details about releases are here.
