"Words Old....New Now"
Roberto Tinoco Duran, nationally renowned published author and performance artist, returns to the Mexican Heritage Plaza Theater after fourteen years of arming himself with a profusion of new work including international films, poetry/music CDs, and two publications of new poetic works; DARK SPARK(2006/Amazon.com), and ACE RACE CARD(2010/iTunes).
The two hour program will feature screenings of four of his recent films that feature him in full force with his poetry and the spectacular visual imagery of Italian producer Emilio Ratti, Greek filmmaker Nikolaos Omeros Koumoundouros, and California video and film directors Iiggy Sky and River O'Mahoney Hagg. Also included in the show will be a live poetry recital by Duran featuring his standard pieces as well as his newest material. Special musical guest performers Sammy Varela & Quartet will collaborate with Roberto in an ensemble showcase presentation blending music and poetry in dynamic fashion. In addition, San Diego native Scribe Sayar will contribute original hip-hop music and a spoken word presentation to round off the show.
A reception will follow the show with live music by the Cafecito Band. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Selections of Roberto Tinoco Duran's works will be on sale. The event will be MC'd by KKUP Radio DJ host Joe Sodja and is a fundraiser for the film documentary IMPACTO! about the legacy of the Chicano/Latino Civil Rights Movement in Silicon Valley.
