Jimmy!: A Musical Fable with Almost No Historical Basis
At a press conference in 1973, Governor Jimmy Carter gets ambushed by reporters demanding to know the answer to a single question: did he really spot a UFO back in 1969? When Jimmy claims that he doesn't know exactly what he saw in those Georgian skies, his no-'count brother, Billy, comes up with an idea: they'll use Billy's time-traveling beer to venture back to 1969 and set the record straight. Will Jimmy and Billy survive their encounters with deadly swamp rabbits? Will they embrace the wisdom of George Washington Carver and his dancing peanuts? And, of course, will they be able to cease an intergalactic war that threatens our very existence?
This sci-fi spectacular by I.B. Hopkins (three-time winner of the International Thespian Playworks Festival) and Harry N. Haines will be presented August 8-16, 2014 at the Irondale Center in Downtown Brooklyn. The production will feature a cast and crew of over forty high school and college students, selected from across the United States.
WARNING: Strobe lights and haze will be utilized in this production. There will also be peanuts onstage.
