Brandywine in White 2014
Welcome to Brandywine in White...a unique and elegant pop-up summer evening for 'BYO' Wine and Food enthusiasts. Guests dress in their trendiest white outfits, provide their own picnic basket dinner, wine, centerpiece, candles and ambiance.

Join us on Sunday, August 24 from 5:30 to 10 pm. As you know, we can't say where this is except that it's in the Wilmington/Brandywine area. Rain or Shine and plenty of parking.

Here are a few FAQ's to answer any of your questions:

What is Brandywine in White?

Brandywine in White is an elegant, pop-up summer gathering for "BYO" wine and food enthusiasts. Guests dress in all white and arrive at a secret outdoor location with a picnic dinner (as extravagant or as simple as you like). (But extravagant is always more fun.) People bring place settings, wine, glasses, flowers, napkins and anything else needed to create a chic white event.

When is it?

Dinner set up begins at 5:30pm Sunday, August 24. Guests are asked to finish setting up their picnics by 6:30pm so dinner and music can begin. The party goes until 10pm.

Secret location? OK, really, where is it?

We're not saying! Well, what we will say is that we have a beautiful spot picked out in the Wilmington/Brandywine area. The location will be released by email to ticket holders at 5pm Friday, August 22, about 48 hours before the event begins.

How can I attend?

Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets and are $25 per person. Attendance is limited, so buy your tickets before they're sold out!

What does the event benefit?

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit Friends of Wilmington Parks, a "grass roots" nonprofit devoted to the preservation and maintenance of the Wilmington State Parks.  There will also be a food drive in support of the Sunday Breakfast Mission, so please consider bringing one or more of the following needed items: all stages of baby food, formula (especially those for allergies). canned meats, tuna, spam, and stews. They will also take fresh produce and fruit if anyone has extras from their gardens. Please no perishables. SBM volunteers will be on-site to collect your donations as you enter the event venue location, so there is no need to lug any of it with you!
*Guests can also make a monetary donation, postage-paid envelopes will be provided as volunteers cannot accept cash donations.

Do I have to bring my own table and chairs?

You do not! Do to the location, we will provide tables set with a white tablecloth and white chairs, which is included in your ticket purchase. Tickets are sold on a per person basis and tables come set for two, four, six or eight people based on the number of tickets you purchase.

Baskets are allowed tableside during dinner, but large plastic containers, colored totes, etc. will not be allowed around the table area after set-up time is over. We will have a "behind the scenes" staging area to store such things during the dinner. If you would like an additional "service" table to hold serving trays, wines, etc. for your group, you may reserve one when you purchase your tickets. This would be a 6' banquet table set with a white tablecloth next to your dinner table.

Food must be prepared ahead of time. If you wish to maintain heat on your food, you are allowed a chaffing dish with a Sterno, but there is no cooking allowed on site.

Can I sit with my friends?

You certainly can! You can buy everyone's tickets together in a single purchase, or simply let us know who you would like to sit with on the check-out screen when you buy your tickets. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. Please remember that the largest tables seat a maximum of eight people. Share with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and let them know you are going! There will be a photographer on hand taking photos of people and tables.

How serious are you about this "white" thing?

We are serious about the white thing. Dress should be all white, and white should be the dominant color of decorations, centerpieces and other ambiance at your table. (Accent colors are allowed in moderation.) Prizes will be awarded for the most elegantly white tables.

Can we bring candles?

Candles are allowed only if they are completely contained and/or have their own tablecloth under them. We have to pay for any tablecloths damaged with wax. Please be courteous.

What about clean-up? Other housekeeping bits?

Please be prepared to take out everything that you came in with. We recommend that you bring trash bags for the end of the night. We also recommend bringing bug spray and a flashlight.  Toilet facilities will be provided on site. Also, please note that Brandywine in White is a completely non-smoking event.

What if it rains?

Brandywine in White happens Aug. 24, rain or shine.

I don't have time to make a picnic dinner! Any ideas?

Of course. If you don't want to prepare food, Montrachet Fine Foods at The Centreville Café can provide basket options. Call Montrachet at (302) 425-5808.

Can I sponsor the event?

There are a limited number of sponsorship opportunities available with great benefits for your business or entity.  Please inquire with Kelly-Ayn McKay at kelly@i720m.com or call 302.476.2722.

This is a wonderful venue to be social, meet some new people, and have fun!
