Three Amazing Workshops with Dusty Paik

As a dancer, Dusty is known for her character driven performances and improvisational style of attack onstage. In this 3 hour lecture AND dance workshop, you will learn about Dusty's approach to conceptualizing show pieces, and embodying these concepts in your own dance. We'll discuss different ways to acquire and to flesh out our inspirations, and how to bring them into every aspect of our own performance, from the tiniest scrap of an idea, all the way through music selection, costuming, makeup, expression and embodying your character with your movement stylization and musicality.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 4th 2014: 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm : "Stage Make-Up 101"

As performers, we all want ourselves to look fully realized and polished onstage. We want our makeup to stand up to the rigors of a classic, 20-30 minute long set... Veils, turbans, heavy costuming, heat, and most especially, SWEAT. One of the most foolproof ways to accentuate your eyes and enhance your expressiveness onstage is the classic smoky eye. While Dusty currently makes sought after costuming for her business, Snake Church, she was a special FX makeup grunt for academy award winning makeup artist, Barney Burman, and has been performing for close to 20 years in some form or another. She's picked up some tricks to make your makeup stick along the way, and she is going to share a bunch of them with you. We're going to learn how to do beautiful, sweat-proof smoky eyes, learn some easy tricks for false eyelashes, and some basic contouring techniques.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 5th 2014: 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm: "Belly Dance Belt Clinic"
EARLY BIRD PRICE:$60 - After Sept 4th: $75
First time ever. Dusty Paik from Snake Church Costume Designs, will lead you into her magic world of baubles and bling. In this workshop, you will learn all the professional tricks of the belt-making trade, including belt construction and decoration. This is truly a special event, as Dusty does not easily give up her costuming secrets. This is a four hour workshop with an hour lunch break in the middle.
