Slow Food Chicago mobs Peasant's Plot Sustainable Farm
Slow Food Chicago is excited to head on down to Julia and Todd's farm in Manteno to lend a helping hand.
Their mission is to produce nutritious, extraordinarily delicious vegetables using sustainable and organic farming methods. WThey pledge to involve shareholders and customers in a way that brings them together as a community and gives them an understanding of farming and food production.
On August 23rd, we'll head on out and take on some farm chores. Possible tasks include cultivating vegetable beds and "skinning" a greenhouse. No previous experience is necessary. We'll work from 9a-1p. Come prepared with sunscreen, water bottle to refill, & clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Peasant's Plot is about an hour's drive from downtown Chicago.
