12 O'CLOCK BOYS and HOWARD GLOVER (FILM at the Erie Art Museum)
July 23, 2014 12 O'Clock Boys (2014) Documentary Western Pennsylvania Premiere
Plus NWPA Filmmaker Spotlight: Howard Glover with Q&A
Pug, a young boy growing up on a combative West Baltimore block, finds solace in a group of illegal dirt bike riders known as The "12 O'Clock Boys". To Baltimore locals, the riders are hooligans - a group of urban dirt-bikers that perform death-defying stunts at excessive speeds through traffic and impressively evade the hamstrung police, who must adhere to a no-chase policy to maintain public safety. Yet they are heroes to Pug, a bright, young adolescent living in the city's dangerous Westside neighborhood. Filled with stunningly kinetic footage that puts the viewer on up-close ride-alongs with the bikers, 12 O'Clock Boys provides a compelling and personal story of a young boy and his dangerous, thrilling dream. 76 minutes. Directed by: Lofty Nathan.
Winner of Best Documentary Honorable Mention at the Philadelphia Film Festival
Our evening begins with a look at a selection of short films and music videos by area filmmaker, Howard Glover, owner of ThreeGlovesProductions. A Q&A will follow our spotlight of his work. 20 minutes.
