Anatomy with Movement: Extrinsic Muscles of the Core
This 4 hour workshop will explore the "core" muscles including extrinsic abdominal, lumbar, pelvic floor and hip muscles and will examine how these muscles utilize the fascial system to stabilize the spine. This class uses the Anatomy In Clay Learning System and incorporates Mini Movement Labs to enable the student to feel the muscles being built and understand how dysfunctional movement can lead to pathology.
Objectives: By the end of this workshop the students will
1. Know the boney attachments of the abdominal, superficial lumbar spine and pelvic floor muscles 2. Understand the function of the core muscles and how they are influenced by of the abdominal and thoraco-lumbar fascia 3. Understand the relationship between faulty movement patterns that spine and pelvic floor pathology can cause 4. Be able to demonstrate movement sequences that facilitate postural alignment and ease of spinal movement using the "core muscles"
