Butcher Paper Dinner: One Serious Sandwich
Hugue Dufour and Sarah Obraitis, of M Wells fame, merge culinary mastery and performance art like no other restaurant team in New York: where else can diners dodge the corks of sabered champagne bottles, pick out their own trout, or eat a bone-in burger?

From their original M Wells Diner, which won the highly-sought accolade of Best New Restaurant from Bon Appetit in 2011, to the quirky, cafeteria-style M Wells Dinette in MOMA PS1, to their latest epic, M Wells Steakhouse, Sarah and Hugue are dedicated to feeding the LIC community they call home.  Just so happens, we're proud to be a part of that LIC community, and we couldn't be more excited to team up with the madcap M Wellsians for a Queens picnic to end all picnics.  You're gonna want to be there.

Chef Hugue's food defies expectation.  His early days at Montreal's celebrated Au Pied de Cochon instilled in him a deep love for foie gras and maple, but his style, while distinctly Québécois, also draws from far and wide, resulting in dishes like General Tso's sweetbreads and Bi Bim Wells.  So who knows what will end up on the table-long sandwiches he's creating especially for this picnic lunch?!  We do know that vegetable chips will replace run-of-the-mill spuds, and pickles of every variety will make appearances.

Bedell Cellars will be pouring local glasses of red and Rockaway Brewing Co. has beer aplenty.  Tunes will be spun throughout the afternoon and evening by celebrated DJ and saxophonist Neal Sugarman, co-owner of funk/soul label Daptone Records and resident of neighboring Sunnyside.

Folks better be ready to get dirty, and to have some fun.  This is not a stuffy supper club; this is a Butcher Paper Dinner!

Menu:

Salad
Pickles
Vegetable chips
A Giant f*@&ing sandwich
Something sweet

ABOUT BUTCHER PAPER DINNERS:
This series of fun, inventive dinner parties to be held spring through fall at Brooklyn Grange's flagship rooftop will center around the farm's massive, reclaimed white oak communal table down the length of which organizers will roll butcher paper.  A rotating lineup of the city's most innovative chefs will bring their unique culinary stylings to play with the farm's fresh, seasonal produce, serving family-style meals directly atop the paper-lined table.  This style of hands-on dining allows guests to really engage with their food, and their neighboring diners around them. Participating chefs will hail from all over the New York City area but will draw their inspiration from the eclectic diversity and bold flavors of Queens' signature culinary culture.

ABOUT EDIBLE QUEENS:
