JIM WHITE
White grew up in Pensacola, Fla., enamored with the sounds of white gospel music he heard on the Gospel Jubilee television series. After spending his formative years on the outskirts of a deeply Pentecostal community, he worked as a surfer, a fashion model and a musician.

He recorded a demo of original songs, which eventually made its way to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label. White released his debut album, Wrong-Eyed Jesus!, a collection of atmospheric country-folk performances, in 1997. Additional recordings include critically acclaimed albums like Drill a Hole in That Substrate and Tell Me What You See, Transnormal Skiperoo, A Funny Little Cross to Bear and Where It Hits You.  His song Wordmule was recently featured on Season 5 of Breaking Bad.

"Jim White works in shadows, a chiaroscuro of sound that stretches in intangible atmospherics expanding with unsettled pacing."  The Austin Chronicle

"Onstage Mr. White is entirely his own combination of philosopher and raconteur, country boy and intellectual."  The New York Times

"His idiosyncratic blend of the backwoods philosophy and Southern storytelling is as strong as it's ever been."  Paste Magazine
