ROBIN HOOD!
June 13, 14, 15 and June 20, 21, 22

Hip hop, electric guitars, sword fights, a strong and courageous Maid Marian--this is Robin Hood like you've never seen it before!

We are giving the classic tale a modern twist, with its themes of inequity and marginalization now more relevant than ever. This production by and for our community is a collaborative, engaging live theater experience with powerful poignancy for all generations.

About the Production

Robin Hood is a bold "coming of age" adventure, demonstrating how an ordinary young man came to be the extraordinary Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest. This version of the tale employs a strong and courageous Maid Marian. The play also reveals how the people (band) of Sherwood Forest were the poor and disenfranchised, who had been forced to flee from the cruel practices of Prince John.

Economic inequality, a central theme within the play, is a relevant issue in the Rainier Valley. As a result, we are teaming up with organizations working on poverty and hunger in the local community. We will hold a "Special Giving Night" to raise funds for these organizations on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Tickets for that evening include the play and a post-performance social!

The play will be produced at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center and will run two consecutive weekends, June 13 through June 22--including one pay-what-you-can performance on June 15.
