Killing the Bard - Shakespeare on the Lam
What happens when you're Will Shakespeare and you die? You are given your own paradise, of course. Complete with all your characters. Even Hamlet. Which kind of ruins the paradise angle. You've even got your favorite ladies by your side. The two women who helped you most in life. Edna and Kate. And it IS paradise. But then Edna and Kate start organizing the characters. A union! And the characters aren't interested in reenacting your plays over and over again. Imagine! So you lock them ALL into plays. Edna becomes Lady MacBeth. Kate becomes the Shrew. Case closed, no?
No. Somehow, most of your characters manage to escape your paradise. What's a brilliant creator to do, but find them and round them up? One thing: It might be a good idea to leave the gates open, because when they shut behind you and you find yourself locked out of paradise? You might as well go live in a cave. Oh, and Kate? If you can't get her back to paradise? She's going to kill you.
Killing the Bard is a fevered imagining of what might happen if Shakespeare's characters could speak for themselves. The result is Shakespeare like he never imagined. He probably wouldn't approve.
