LOVE FISH!   - Celebrate Earth Day 2014 April 27th
The Choices For A Sustainable Future are Ours to Make

The Wine Country Film Festival and Kenwood Restaurant and Bar present an evening of discussion andinsight focusing on the Future of Sustainable Renewable Seafood.

There will be a screening of the award-winning documentary "Red Gold" at 7pm. The film addresses the environmental degradation of cold-water creeks by thethreat of massive mining developmentin Bristol Bay Alaska.Bristol Bay is apristine Alaskan watershed with the most productive Pacific Sockeye Salmon Rivers in the world, teeming with millions of native fish."Red Gold" also raises important issues that relate to the restoration ofsalmon and Trout in our own Sonoma Creek Watershed.

After the film, Bill Foss, restaurant owner and co-owner of TwoXSea, will discuss the sustainable/renewable criteria for seafood, how better to understand it and enlighten us regarding the catch methods used throughout fisheries. Cards will be handed out that highlight the seafood we should be eating and when to eat it. Joining Bill will be local ecological historian Arthur Dawson who will talk about the state of the Sonoma Creek Watershed and he has a lot of good news to share!

Join us for a reception at 6:30pm in the Event Room followed by the film and discussion. $15 includes tasty hors d' oeuvres and a no host bar and the film and discussion.

You can upgrade to $60 (includes film and discussion) and enjoy a Sustainable Dinner at 6 pm. THERE ARE 10 dinner tickets still available!

Chef Anthony Paone will prepare a special menu:
Devilled Wise Acre Farm egg with smoked wild king salmon, trout roe powder, shaved horseradish, cucumber, and lemon relish. Paired with  2009 Deerfield Ranch White Rex

Little gem lettuce with buttermilk-herb dressing, pickled local sardines, cucumbers,baby carrots, lemon basil,rye croutons. Paired with 2012 Deerfield Ranch @ Chardonnay

Bodega coastal stew.  cove mussels, local octopus and squid, green garlic mayo toast, sonoma sea vegetable - white wine and fennel broth. Paired with Ashton Vineyard 2009 Pinot Noir

Signature pound cake with meyer lemon curd, blackberries and whipped cream.
Paired with Ashton Vineyard 2005 Syrah

"Partnering with like minded farmers and ranchers, we can write the menu based on availability.   Often the ingredients speak to us, and through our experience and predilections, things fall into place.  Most of all, the goal is for deliciousness without pretense, respect to the ingredients and the satisfaction of the guest," states Chef Anthony.

Net proceeds go to the 28th Wine Country Film Festival Internship
Program. WCFF is a local, 100% volunteer -run 501 c3 dedicated to
bringing awareness to the environment, the arts and world cultures
through the powerful media of film and meaningful discussion.
