Ballet 5:8's The Story of Job - Hosted by Wheaton College and Zoe's Feet
The story of Job is perhaps one of the most challenging stories found in Scripture. In it we find a man  Job  who lives a life fully dedicated to God and who is surrounded by every kind of earthly and material wealth.

At first glance, it would be easy to assume that Job's wealth is directly proportional to his obedience to God. Interestingly, however, a different glimpse  this one of a conversation between God and the fallen angel Satan  destroys our ability to assume that Job's blessings are tied to his integrity. In fact, the story forces us to watch a series of agonizing scenes where Job, seemingly for no fault of his own, successively looses his wealth, his family, and finally his health.

The narrative, as expressed in this neoclassical story ballet set in modern times, provides an opportunity for us to wrestle with questions that may or may not have good answers.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

With music by 21-sf Century composers and original choreography by Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Slager, When Bad Things Happen to Good People: The Story of Job is a deeply captivating exploration into the character of God as seen through His interactions with Job and Satan  demonstrating God's mysterious yet perfect sovereignty over all His creation.
