Dancing Through Wonderland

A truly unique dance experience! This show was created from an idea and vision of local choreographers Mary Simler Evans and Gayle D Staker. Using the talents of 5 different choreographers in their different cultural dance styles we have put together a dance story like none other. When you watch this show you will be swept away with a classic Viennese Waltz, caught up in a fun inspiring Salsa Rueda, clap along with a fast paced Swing Dance, laugh along with an innovative Hip Hop, and be mesmerized by Belly Dance and Hoop Dance performances.

This show presents dancers (amateur and professional mixed in each performance) ranging in age from 14-70 years. It is truly a community performance as it brings together 5 different businesses in Bellingham: Ballroom, Jazz and Hip Hop with Gayle D Staker; Rumba NW featuring choreographer Yasmare Gonzales Pi; Bellingham Belly Dance with Maggie Rose; Gracefully Spun with Kaylee Wiebe; and Bellingham Dance Company with Mary Simler Evans

Mary Simler Evans has been presenting dance showcases in Bellingham featuring different cultural dance styles in Ballroom and Partner dancing as well as Hip Hop, Break, Flamenco, Belly Dance, and more for the past 12 years. This is her first story lined dance performance, produced by her new school, Bellingham Dance Company. We hope to use this show to set a new precedent in story telling using dance, and to offer a new place for dancers to showcase their talents and dreams on the stage.
