LHAAFF: Fatherhood Films (Film Shorts Followed By Feature Film)
Meeting Gary, USA, 2013, 13 min (US Premiere)

Meeting Gary is a film about domestic child neglect. The story is set up in the low income, 'ghetto' neighborhood. A boy's dream of becoming a professional dancer is being ignored by his own parents because they are too busy dealing with their own life struggles. He keeps reaching out for love and understanding, but keeps getting rejected. Is anybody out there who is paying attention to this boy's most basic need for love and support? Will he carry on going and follow his dream? Some mature themes and content.

Barbasol, USA, 2012, 22 min (World Premiere)

Barbasol is a story that touches on themes that will certainly lead to well needed discussions about father and son relationships as well as mental illness. Barbasol is a short film about a man that desires to bond with his father; as his father is slipping further into dementia. Mental illness is a topic that is rarely discussed, particularly in ethnic communities. Barbasol is a personal journey in storytelling. "It is a unique chance to tell a complex story of the father and son relationship", says Ralph Scott the film's Producer and Director. "Barbasol is meant to share with many different mental health organizations. It has already sparked many conversations about dementia and Alzheimer's in just the mere mention of the storyline." The goal is to create a project that will inform, inspire, and motivate people about the importance and impact of father-Hood and Mental Health awareness. The quality and delivery of the film is very important and everyone affiliated with this film believes in the message and places high stakes on the added value that this film will project. Under the banner of an independent film promotion company, Social Cinema, Barbasol will be linked with various mental health organizations. Written and produced by Kiara C. Jones of Cultivated Films, the film stars Stephen Hill as Harper; Ebbe Bassey as Grace; Elijah Williams as Grant and William Jay Marshall as 'Super Chief'. Some mature themes and content.

Spit'in Anger: Venom of a Fatherless Son, USA, 2014, 60 min (Seattle Premiere)

Spit'in Anger is the exploration into the uncharted space of fatherlessness. Through the story of one of America's premier leaders in the responsible fatherhood movement--Kenneth Braswell--we learn that the filmmaker and healer is about to receive a lesson in healing himself. Experts Dr. Jeff Gardere, Iyanla Vanzant. Judge Mablean Ephriam and Terrie Williams lay the foundation for one of most devastating social ills for black children in America; father absence. Today; 82.3% of African American children born since 1990, will live in a home without their biological fathers before their 18th birthday. Some strong language.
