Temple: Voltaire / Ego Likeness
Temple, Knoxville's goth/industrial dance night and Saint Tattoo welcomes Voltaire with special guests Ego Likeness, DJ Fallen and DJ Lithia
Saint Tattoo and Temple Productions presents: Voltaire w/ special guests Ego Likeness followed by Temple with featured DJs: DJ Fallen (Temple resident, Knoxville) and DJ Livia (Chattanooga).
Voltaire - Voltaire.net He is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a convention audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him for his songs "Brains!" and "Land of the Dead" from the Cartoon Network show "The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy". Voltaire's live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra, are full of stories and games. Many describe his shows as sitting around a fire while an old friend regales you with tales, presuming that old friend drinks a liter of rum a night, dates zombie prostitutes and wrestles Krakens. Voltaire has been recording and touring for over 15 years. He's released 8 full length CDs, most of them through Projekt Records.
Ego Likeness - egolikeness.com Created in 1999 by artist Steven Archer, a DC native, and writer Donna Lynch in Baltimore, Maryland. Taking their name from Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel Dune, the band began as an experimental/ dark trip hop project. By 2000, the couple was moving the project in a darker electronic/ dance direction, resulting in a self-released full length album entitled Dragonfly. In 2005, Ego Likeness toured Germany, Luxembourg, and the continental US with The Cruxshadows, as well as performed at several festivals on the east and west coast, including Convergence 11 (San Diego CA), Dracula's Ball (Philadelphia PA), Black Sun Festival I (New Haven CT), Freaks United (DC), Eccentrik Festival I (Raleigh NC), and others. In the following years Ego Likeness toured with The Cruxshadows, Ayria, Angelspit, Voltaire and performed at Dragon Con twice as well as releasing CDs and EPs and headlining their own tour. For 2010, Ego Likeness signed with Metropolis Records to release their fourth album,Breedless. The album showcases their dark electronic trip hop sensibilities overlaid with Donna's passionately emotive vocals. While many may compare them to Curve and Collide, Ego Likeness continues to take their music to darker corners of the human psyche.
Temple is Knoxville's premier goth/alternative dance night. For nearly 10 years Temple has provided a place for the children of the night to gather, dance and socialize, and even forge into territories outside of what is classically consider gothic, industrial or alternative.
Your DJs for the evening will be: DJ Fallen Temple resident DJ DJ Lithia (Chattanooga) - Lithia is the Experimental/IDM/Industrial project of DJ/Producer Brandis Grier. After spending many late nights mixing in the bedroom and DJing at local clubs/events (2001) in the Southeastern area as well as a DJ in New England (at Portland, Maine, Gothic Maine, event Plague) and some events in Washington D.C. metro area, it was time to take the direction towards production starting in 2010. Influences include Ellen Allien, Miss Kittin, cEvin Key, Download, Skinny Puppy, Autechre, Tonikom, Aphex Twin and Kraftwerk. It pretty much ranges from old school Industrial/Noize all the way to the clubby dance stuff to Jazz and Classical. You could pretty much say there is something there for all Electronic music or just sound in general.
