Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Stirring Celebrations!"
With over 100 instrumentalists, three area choirs, and two world-renowned soloists, the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Stirring Celebrations!" featuring Mahler's epic 2nd Symphony "Resurrection," one of the most powerful and stirring pieces in the history of music. Dr. Beverly Everett conducts.
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra will be joined by members of the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra and other musicians from around the region; The Bemidji Choir (Dr. P. Bradley Logan, Director), the Bemidji Chorale (Patricia Mason, Conductor) the Park Rapids Classic Chorale (Jason Wright, Director), and two superlative soloists: soprano Korliss Uecker and mezzo soprano Tammy Hensrud.
Mahler's 2nd is expansive in its scope, orchestration, and length, and the technical demands of the music are the greatest that the BSO and choruses have ever attempted together, but what a magnificent way to celebrate the close of the BSO's 75th anniversary season!
There will be a reception with Dr. Everett and others on the Club Level of the Sanford Center immediately following the concert. Tickets for the reception are $10 and must be purchased by April 30th at either Luekens Village Foods store in Bemidji, or by calling the Sanford Center's Bob Lowth Ford Pick-Up Window at (218) 441-4032.
The presenting sponsor of this concert is "Presidential Estates," owned and managed by Whelan Properties Inc. of Bemidji.
This project is made possible by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, and by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
