Intermediate/Advanced Acro Campout at Reverie with Lux of Seattle Acro
The workshop: Foundations in the practice of Acro will be established, and expansion will be explored. High level spotting skills will be honed, and shared in a way that will make it fun to do. Intermediate and advanced practitioners will find success and challenge. We will Explore Gravity, Inertia and Weight Distribution. Be prepared to break through current limits of range-of-balance, and proprioceptive acuity.
Prerequisites: 1 SOLID year of experience, or equivalent. Specific skills that will be useful: Flyer in an inversion rotating hips independently of shoulders. (no side bending) Bases balance flyer on one leg (arms connected, but flyers weight in the legs). Base bends and extends legs.
The instructor: With over 13 years of Partner acrobatics experience, Lux has a deep understanding of how to make the seemingly impossible attainable to the novice and dedicated practitioner. His humor, and depth of knowledge, make him one of the most sought after instructors around the world. Much of the content that he has developed is practiced by people far and wide. Lux combines conscious powerful movement, and a keen understanding of how to manipulate the center of gravity through steadiness, inertia, and momentum. Come to this weekend workshop and see how attainable this practice can be. Lux's philosophy is anything you can't do is simply something you can't do yet.
The event: This is a camping event. All meals and snacks will be provided by the Reverie crew...prepare to have your gustatory delights satiated and impressed. The Reverie kitchen specializes in hyper-seasonal and hyper-local fare prepared with ingredients grown on-site in our own gardens and from local farms and ranches. Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice (at least one week). Outdoor toilets, sinks and showers will be provided. Please note: car camping spots are sold out; please plan accordingly.
Dates: September 19th-21st; event begins with a welcome dinner at 7 pm on Friday and ends with lunch at 1 pm on Sunday.
The location: Reverie Retreat is 32 acres of seclusion located in the Sierra foothills on the Georgetown Divide, approximately 8 miles north of Placerville, within an hour's drive from Sacramento and a 2.5 hour drive from San Francisco. The property boasts stunning views to the west with spectacular sunsets and a full view of the night sky. At 2,200 feet in elevation Reverie has hot summers (average temps in the low 90s in July and August) and mild winters, enabling a bountiful year-round garden and a multitude of fruit trees to flourish. Nearly the entire property is shaded by large heritage oaks as well as a diverse mix of conifers, giving visitors a pleasant respite from the heat in the summer, vivid foliage in the fall, and lots of habitat for birds and other wildlife. Two ponds and a stream provide the opportunity for swimming, fishing, or dunking your feet in the cool delicious water. We are within a burgeoning wine region and a five minute drive from the south fork of the American River as well as within close proximity to several smaller rivers and lakes in the area.
Founding members of Reverie Retreat: Tamara Johnston, Ramon Fliek, Stan Barrett and Liz Williams. Our collective skills include massage and physical therapy, yoga, acrobatics, bicycle mechanics, woodworking, gardening, design, fundraising, and IT services. We have a knack for creating delicious cuisine and enjoying great wine. We are excited and inspired to create a true retreat for family, friends, and friends we have yet to make. So come, join us for a weekend of acrobatics, and get a taste of what Reverie has to offer!
