Chinatown meets Alice In Wonderland in this fantastical noir farce from Avi Nesher (Turn Left at the End of the World, NCJF2005; The Matchmaker, NCJF2011), about a graffiti artist, private investigator, and femme fatale who join forces to rescue an enigmatic rabbi caught in a labyrinthine conspiracy in Jerusalem's weird criminal-religious underworld. With a tip of the hat to the Coen brothers, Woody Allen, and Michael Chabon, The Wonders is filled with quirks, red herrings, and cartoons that come to life.
