I AM SO EXCITED!!! TO ANNOUNCE MY UPCOMING CONCERT Friday April 25, 8:00PM,at Convivio Center, in San Diego's Historic Little Italy. This is a tribute to the "First Lady Of Song", on the Anniversary of the Ella Fitzgerald Legendary Birthday Concert in Rome, held on her 41st birthday Friday April 25, 1958, considered the best live performance of her career. This year this anniversary falls on a Friday, what a great time to pay tribute to this legendary musician on the actual date 56 years later. I fell in love with her music when I was a child. her outstanding musical ability, I could not fully appreciate. Ella ...was the most popular female Jazz singer in the U.S. for more than half a century,My love for her became admiration after my uncle took me to one of her concerts, sitting in a VIP seat I became one of her most loyal fans. This concert is truly a reflection of my love for Ella's work. My repertoire will center on a special moment in American history, using Ella's original arrangements done for her in the 1940-1950's,arrangements not heard by live audiences in more than 40 years. Patizia dubbed the sultry lady of jazz by her fans early in her career, is a highly acclaimed award winning Jazz Vocalist,with a 41/2 octave vocal range,has a natually pure way of creating strong emotions in her listeners,her last San Diego Concert earned her 3 standing ovations. Ron Levy, originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, leads the band as my pianist/music director/ bandleader. Ron always brings his boundless enthusiasm and exceptional artistry, making him one of the nations most sought after pianists, recording artists, and composer/music directors. He has performed with Barbara Morrison, Thelma Jones, Catte Adams, Paul Williams, Karen Gallinger, Arlene Kole, Sharon Marie Cline, Judy Chamberlain, Lacey Marie Wood, Leslie Lewis, Angela Carole Brown, Andrea Miller, Avery Burdette, and many others.
Tim Miller, upright bassist, has established himself as a skilled player, having played in Robert Holt's big band, as well as with Robert Magris,Al Torre(Cal Tjader), Alan Winkel trio, Bob Keller Ron Levy, and Norm Abejon. Tim will be creating the rhythmic drive and "time" feel. He brings an impeccable sense of swing and groove to this outstanding group.
Danny King, impressive drummer, hails from New York, having studied under Buddy Rich, is no stranger to jazz, having played with Louie Bellson, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Billy Eckstine, Thelma Houston, Lorna Luft and many others. Danny brings another integral part, the swing feel; he will be stoking the fire, propelling each song. Danny's buoyant playing perfectly compliments Ron's relaxed approach to the piano,
